OTN is proud to support INSPIRE 2016 conference with a number of workshops focusing on volunteered georgaphic information (VGI) and citizen science. These hackathon-style events aim to create a common space where people interested in VGI and citizen science can come together and use the results/tools of different projects, including SDI4Apps and FOODIE, to generate new ideas and services.
On 13-15 July 2016 OTN participated in MedHackathon event that was organised by the European Regional Framework for Co-operation and the Computer Engineering & Informatics Department (CEID) of the University of Patras. OTN is anxiously waiting for the next week’s hackathon that will take place in Patras, Greece, on 13-15 July. Over this period a seven-strong OTN team will perform a number of different tasks. Karel Charvat will take charge of moderating the event. Dmitri Kozuch, Jan Jezek, Pavel Hajek, Richard Brown, Leonidas Kallipolitis and Irene Matzakou will offer mentoring support to developers on day two and three. On day one Irene will also deliver a presentation about OTN during a thematic session focused on transport.
On 22 June 2016 OTN hosted a four-hour OGC Ad-Hoc meeting on metadata standards. With about 50 people in the meeting room and almost 20 people online, there was a lot of interest in the subject. With the 'créme de la créme' of the meta-data experts in the meeting, a very interesting and animated discussion took place.
