OTN makes name at the Transport Research Arena 2014 in Paris!
Did you know that the transport sector employs 17 million people in Europe and provide services to around 500 million people in EU28? As travelling became a part of our daily lives, transport grew to be one of the most significant segments of the EU economy eager to benefit from the research and innovation solutions. The 5th edition of the Transport Research Arena (TRA) supported by the European Commission was held from the 14th to 17th April in France (Paris/La Défense) and brought together a variety of experts and practitioners from the transport related fields whose goal is to promote synergies between the worlds of research and industry with the aim to shorten the practical implementation of innovations in the cities. TRA 2014 was entitled ‘Transport Solutions: from Research to Deployment’ and mobilized the best researchers and engineers together with policy makers and company managers.
During the 4 exhibition days, with more than 3000 visitors from around the world (56+ countries), OTN presented its vision and objectives. Partners Intrasoft and Issy shared an exhibition space to promote the OTN solution and to identify potential stakeholders discussing with visitors, exhibitors and speakers. The CIVITAS initiative, which has been helping cities to redefine transport measures and policies in order to create cleaner, better transport for more than 10 years also helped in disseminating information about OTN. During the exhibition, OTN aroused interest among various stakeholders from across sectors (public, private or academia), who exchanged their contact details to get involved and follow project news.
The conference concluded by identifying future challenges in the transport domain, including multimodality, management and maintenance of infrastructure, energy efficiency of all modes of urban logistics. The Next Transport Research Arena will be hosted in Poland in 2016.
